5 Foods to Reduce Pain
Studies are showing that eating an anti-inflammatory diet (Mediterranean Diet style) can help reduce diseases like Alzheimer's, heart disease, cancer, as well as help reduce joint pain, aches and pains and symptoms of arthritis.
"Over the past 15 years, an ever-increasing number of chronic health problems has been associated with persistent, low-level, whole-body inflammation, sometimes referred to as "metainflammation." For example, our risk of obesity, diabetes, and many forms of heart disease is known to be increased by the presence of metainflammation. In addition, our risk of many common health problems—including asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, and peptic ulcer—is increased by ongoing, low-grade inflammation. And we can lower our risk of all the problems above through increased intake of anti-inflammatory nutrients, especially within an overall diet plan that is balanced and focused on whole, minimally processed foods." George Mateljan, World's Healthiest Foods
Try incorporating anti-inflammatory foods into your diet today! Why not add two or more every week and see how you can transform how you feel. Try these:
- sweet potato
- wild-caught salmon (Sockeye)
- wild blueberry (or regular blueberry)
- broccoli
- turmeric (powder or fresh root)
Hint: notice the colors of these foods
Salmon with Mustard and Ginger
Try this easy-to-prepare recipe not only for great taste but to add an extra boost of those hard-to-find omega-3 fatty acids to your Healthiest Way of Eating. Enjoy!
Prep and Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
•8 oz salmon fillet
•2 tsp + 1 TBS lemon juice
•1 TBS extra virgin olive oil
•1 clove garlic, pressed
•1 tsp yellow or Dijon mustard
•1/2 tsp soy sauce
•2 TBS cilantro
•2 TBS grated ginger
•sea salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- To Quick Broil salmon, preheat broiler and place an all stainless steel skillet (be sure the handle is also stainless steel) or cast iron pan under the heat for about 10 minutes to get it very hot. The pan should be 5 to 7 inches from the heat source.
- Rub salmon with 2 tsp fresh lemon juice, salt, and pepper. (You can Quick Broil with the skin on; it just takes a minute or two longer. The skin will peel right off after cooking.)
- Using a hot pad, pull pan away from heat and place salmon on a hot pan, skin side down. Return to broiler. Keep in mind that it is cooking rapidly on both sides so it will be done very quickly, usually in 7 minutes depending on thickness.
- Test with a fork for doneness. It will flake easily when it is cooked.
- Salmon is best when it is still pink inside.
- Top salmon 1 TBS lemon juice and the remaining ingredients.

8 Ways to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for Skin
![]() |

Apple cider vinegar has many skincare uses. It can be a potent weapon in the fight against acne, and it can help soothe sunburned skin. In this article, you will learn some of the best ways to use apple cider vinegar (ACV) in your skincare regimen.
Get Rid of Razor Bumps
ACV has anti-inflammatory properties. This makes it an effective remedy against razor bumps. When dealing with aggravated razor bumps, put a few drops of apple cider vinegar on a cotton swap. Then apply the vinegar to the affected area. The anti-inflammatory effects will minimize signs of razor burn, and vinegar's acid levels will soften the skin, helping to prevent ingrown hairs.
Toner for Acne-Prone Skin
Instead of purchasing pricey facial toners, simply use apple cider vinegar as the first step in your post-cleanse skincare regimen. When undiluted, apple cider vinegar is too strong for the facial skin. To make it a suitable toner, combine one cup of water with a ½ tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Then apply it to the face with a cotton ball. Make sure to mix the toner thoroughly before every application. Because apple cider vinegar contains natural alpha-hydroxy-acids, this toner will help to exfoliate the skin and tighten the pores. This minimizes breakouts and gets rid of existing blemishes.
Get Rid of Athlete's Foot
Apple cider vinegar has anti-fungal properties. When dealing with athlete's foot and other fungal infections, try using a footbath filled with an apple cider vinegar mixture. For best results, combine one cup of vinegar with four cups of water. Soak feet in the mixture for 20 to 30 minutes, and then rinse them in water. Because apple cider vinegar has antiseptic properties, this remedy also helps to deodorize feet.
ACV Bath for Eczema
Many people find that ACV is an effective remedy for eczema and itchy skin. Because it contains everything from acetic acid to mineral salts, apple cider vinegar can reduce eczema-related inflammation and restore the skin's pH levels. This helps to soothe eczema-prone skin. To use vinegar as an eczema remedy, add two cups to a warm bath. Soak in the mixture for 30 minutes or more, and then apply an eczema emollient to the skin afterward.
Get Rid of Dandruff
Dandruff is often caused by fungal growth and damage to the scalp's acid mantle. Apple cider vinegar can help to mitigate both of those problems. To use it as a dandruff treatment, mix equal parts water and apple cider vinegar. Rub it into the scalp before you take a shower. Let it sit there for about ten minutes, and then shampoo the hair and scalp as usual. Do this several times a week until the dandruff is gone.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Sunburn
The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar helps to balance the pH level of the skin. When you apply it to sunburned skin, it helps restore the damaged skin to the appropriate level of acidity, which minimizes blistering and peeling. To use apple cider vinegar as a sunburn relief, mix one cup of vinegar with four cups of water. Then apply the mixture to the affected areas of the skin using a warm washcloth.
Bug Bite Remedy
Apple cider vinegar is an effective anti-itch treatment for eczema and rashes. It's no wonder, then, that it's also a great way to treat bug bites. Simply apply undiluted apple cider vinegar to an inflamed mosquito bite. It will speed healing, minimize itchiness, and reduce swelling.
Apple Cider Vinegar Clay Mask for Acne
Many people combine apple cider vinegar with bentonite clay to create a blemish-banishing facial mask. Bentonite clay has healing properties, and it goes deep into the pores to get rid of impurities and blemishes. Apple cider vinegar reduces inflammation and irritation. For a powerful at-home facial, combine equal parts vinegar and clay. The mixture should have the consistency of a paste. Apply it to the face and leave it on the skin until it dries. Then gently rinse it off with warm water. You will immediately notice that your pores look tighter, your skin looks clearer and that your face feels refreshed.

Wanting verses Intending - Change Your Life By Changing the Way You Approach Your Desires
Two friends are chatting about their diets. The first one says, “I want to be healthy and feel great.” The second one says, “I intend to be healthy and feel great.” Which one do you think is going to get healthy and feel great? Yep – the one who intends it.
Wanting is simply wishing you can have or do a particular thing. Intending means you’re committed to achieving something by making a plan for success – and sticking to it!
The key to intention is action – try this to build your intention muscle:
· Do something to make your desire happen. Let’s say you want to eat four servings of vegetables a day. Your first action may be to go to a farmers’ market or healthier style grocery store and purchase a few veggies you can cook for dinner.
· Celebrate your achievement! Don’t forget to congratulate yourself for meeting your goal.
· Upon waking, lie in bed and think about what you have planned for your day (or, find a quiet spot to sit and contemplate).
· Think about your desired outcome. Take a deep breath and visualize yourself succeeding.
· Replay your success several times in your mind.
· Next, add other senses, including sounds, smells, and touch. For instance, as you replay your success, you now also hear the director offering you the gig, or you feel the physical sensation of your finger hitting the “send” button on your latest assignment.
· Lastly, replay the scene again, adding emotions. Feel your elation at getting the part, or your pride at finally finishing your work.
How to Have a Great Day… Every Day! The Fuel for Desired Results
Did you know that you can even set an intention to have a great day? Rather than diving into your morning and hoping you’ll achieve your day’s big goal, why not take a moment and set yourself up for success?
Get clear on what you want. Create a vision board by gathering images and words that pertain to your goal, and gluing them onto a large piece of construction paper. Hang the collage in a spot where you’ll see it often (or, you can use an online service like Pinterest to create a digital vision board- you can make it private for your eyes only).
Try this “Setting an Intention to Succeed” exercise used by professional athletes, speakers, politicians, and performers (and folks like myself):
You can perform Setting an Intention to Succeed throughout the day as desired, and by the way - that is the secret in the law of attraction!

The Lymph System and Cleansing
Lymph nodes are the key component in this system. The lymph nodes are small bean shaped structures along the lymphatic system. These tiny masses clean the lymph and remove infectious organisms and bacteria before the lymph fluid returns to the blood. Lymph nodes are located at the knees, groin area, abdominal area, elbow, armpits, neck and tonsils. These nodes are not usually felt, however, if there is an infection these masses can swell up; use swollen nodes as a health issue trigger.
According to the book “The New Holistic Herbal” to help these congested glands cleanse, one should avoid the following foods:
Red meats
Greasy, fatty foods and fried foods
Cheese, butter, cream, milk
Vinegar and pickles
Alcohol
Sugar, and sugar based products
Artificial additives, preservatives, colorings and flavorings,
One should increase fruits, and vegetables, which of course are excellent cleansing ingredients.
I believe cleansing and detoxing programs are very valuable, but knowing what foods can congest the lymph system can better help one’s overall daily and weekly regime and helping the body to detox on its own.
I'm also convinced that the toxins we are exposed to in our daily lives: house cleaners, soaps, use of plastics, pesticides, cheaply made cosmetics, dryer sheets, etc., also congest our lymph system making it difficult for our lymphatic system to do its job. So along with reducing foods that congest, why not try to reduce the chemicals that can be reduced. There are healthier alternatives ones made with more natural and gentle ingredients. Help your body stay as strong as possible after all it's the only one you've got!
